Like most of the world, I have been intrigued by wearables and smart watches. I have loved the design of the Apple watch, but I haven’t actually  purchased one. I have seen many other smart watches that I have loved the design, but I felt that the companies were trying to cram as many features as possibly into them. They smart watches almost seemed gimmicky to me.

The What? Watch is the first smart watch I have seen that I love the idea behind it. The What? Watch tells time as well as keeps track of your calendar and events in a way that is simple, easy to view, and non-disruptive.

The What? Watch syncs with your calendar and displays your schedule by changing the color on the watch face during the time period. It also vibrates once it is time for something on your schedule.

Without knowing that the watch is a smart watch, the design appears to be unique and modern. It isn’t immediately obvious what the purpose of the shading on the dial is. Once you realize the watch is linked to your calendar, the color differences on the dial are now distinct and seem so straight forward and obvious.

The design is so simple and yet so powerful. You can keep track of when your next meeting or event is with just a quick glance. By far the fastest way to find out how long till your next meeting, or even what your whole afternoon schedule looks like.

The What? Watch is currently on Kickstarter. They have been fully funded which means their first production run will happen late fall. This is not the first watch this team has created which makes this Kickstarter much more likely to deliver.
